Blogs Posts by Nick McHardy

Welcome to my blog, where I cover tech, games and whatever else that’s interesting in the universe like vinyl, fusion jazz and side projects.

This website is inspired by the web of the late 90s - no, not just the style of the site - but also harking back to a time when people would set up websites (probably on Geocities or similar) and write about anything that interested them. Most of the websites looked terrible (my first few sites were no exception) but it was so liberating having your own site. So here’s my modern-day version of that late 90s vibe.

Here’s the last of my “speed dating” movie reviews, mostly gathered from a trip to Europe via Taiwan in 2019. Yes, it’s taken me a little while to finish this one off 😀 Detective Conan: Episode One - The Great Detective Turned Small Japan (2016) 7.3 on IMDB I had friends who were madly into Detective Conan during uni and I did always wonder what the fuss was about, but at the time I was pretty much at the end of my anime obsession so I didn’t take the time to get into it.

Super Simple SEO Guide

2020 Goals, a Progress Update

📅 Posted 2020-08-20 (3 minute read)

So back in March I wrote out some of my goals for 2020 and I figured it’s been almost 6 months, so let’s see how I’m tracking. COVID-19 had already rolled around by March, although it’s full impact wasn’t quite felt yet at that point. Maybe it’s still not quite there yet, but we’re all getting pretty used to being locked down and/or restricted and generally working from home where-possible.

Long Live the Web

📅 Posted 2020-08-11 (11 minute read)

The web is rad. Well, it has been for a long time. But maybe the web is changing. As a user of a web browser, who spends a lot of time reading websites and publishing things on the web (maybe that few people read, ha!), these are my thoughts about the web as it is today. I’ve been mucking around with the web since about 1996, when I built my first website with too much liberal use of Photoshop airbrush and a bit of Notepad.
